The world’s masterpieces of the 20th century for viola will be performed by the three most famous violists of Europe – Andrij Vijtovich, Olexander Zemtsov and Lars Anders Tomter.
Composers-innovators Béla Bartók, Max Bruch, Paul Hindemith, William Walton due to their dynamic and rich creativity formed the styles of the 20th century, their viola concertos are the peaks of experimental search and artistic inspiration of the contemporary classical music.
The program’s culmination is the Concerto for viola and orchestra by the genius contemporary Norwegian composer Egil Hovland. A master of spiritual music himself, Hovland embodied in this piece a call to love, appreciation and preservation of life to rebuff the most acute social discussion in the northern Europe – a problem of abortions. The Viola Concerto will be played by its first ever performer during its world premiere back in 1997, one of the best soloists of nowadays – Lars Anders Tomter.
On top of that, the concert goers will have a unique opportunity to see the outstanding musicians in different roles – both as conductors and soloists. Save the date and come, you will see and hear everything on your own!
