When you are writing about the performance skills of a musician, you often mention the elegance, beauty or emotions ... Israeli pianist Leonid Ptashka was named «the destroyer of the piano». His skillful improvisations and virtuoso performance have been appreciated all over the world, and the American Biographical Institute included the pianist into the prestigious list of «100 outstanding musicians of the 20-th century». So on April 26 we invite you to FLYING OVER THE CITY OF JAZZ with outstanding guest - Leonid Ptashka Trio. We are waiting for you at 7:00 p.m.!
Jazz Rising Star started his career in the Soviet Union - the musician was born in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. Besides piano, Leonid Ptashka skillfully plays drums and melodion. In the 80s the artist was already one of the most active musicians of Soviet Union who was among the first who toured the USA and took part in the international competitions in Poland and Lithuania. Since the early 90's a brilliant pianist, jazzman and composer devoted himself to popularizing jazz in Israel. Although after the immigration he had to start everything from scratch, Leonid Ptashka quickly became as popular as in post-Soviet area. Now the musician annually gives about 200 concerts.
What makes this virtuoso pianist so fascinating? First of all it is his freedom in music. Ptashka plays free jazz, combines ethnic music and improvisation, plays mainstream music and does not lose originality. During his concerts Leonid Ptashka creates a dialogue between the piano and the audience. His emotional manner of performance captures and helps the audience immerse into this dynamic dialogue, this expressive play. Ptashka has been playing recital concerts all over the world, including solo recital in Carnegie Hall in New York, Boston University Concert Hall and the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art. Also the artist gives concerts in Western and Eastern Europe.
On April 26 Leonid Ptashka will perform in Lviv Philharmonic Hall. The musician will play trio with Ukrainian masters of jazz - Ihor Zakus (acoustic bass) and Ihor Hnydyn (drums). In Lviv Leonid Ptashka gives the final concert on his tour, after Kyiv and Kharkiv.
