Have you ever heard word «Hanami»? It is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers. It is Japanese philosophy to enjoy the moment, to see the beauty around in the smallest things. Although Ukraine does not have such tradition, every spring we celebrate the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ukraine. And 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of this event. Festive concert with participation of Ukrainian and Japanese artists will be held on March 22.

Despite the geographical distance between our countries, mutual interest manifests itself in many areas, particularly in music. The Japanese guest of today’s evening is Takashi Ueno - flutist, founder and director of the New Philharmonic Orchestra. He started his collaboration with Ukraine in 1993, when for the first time he came to the festival «Tsviten 93 - the feast of the flute". Since that time maestro Takashi for 25 years has been developing musical collaboration between our countries. It is due to him one of the largest concert halls in Tokyo presented Stankovych music, and Ukrainian musicians had an opportunity to discover faraway Japan. After the tragedy in 2011, Ueno Takashi together with the French horn player and conductor Vasyl Pylypchak wrote a chamber symphony "Cicadas’ Prayer" dedicated to the tragedy of Chernobyl and Fukushima. It was performed to the poems of Japanese and Ukrainian writers and to prayers in both languages.

Japanese virtuoso will be accompanied by the Lviv Virtuosos Academic Chamber Orchestra. Soprano is Marichka Kononova, the soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine. Conducts honored artist of Ukraine Vasyl Pylypchak who is a good friend of Ueno Takashi with whom they have already fulfilled numerous joint projects.
