"Yuriy Lanіuk and friends" will bring together composers from all over the world.
From September 21 to 26, Lviv will again be the point of unity for those who make music. The festival "Yuriy Lanіuk and Friends" is the international artistic meeting, which will be attended by contemporary composers from Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, the USA, Switzerland, Estonia and Great Britain. Ukrainian music in the context of the world – and much more.
Among the guests of the festival are Ukrainian-American composer Virko Balayev, professor at the University of Nevada, winner of the Shevchenko Prize, author of films for Illenko and Paradzhanov and the opera Golod. In the music of Ballet, Ukrainian coloring is reflected, in particular, the motifs of columyuses and dumas. The composer often comes with concerts, as well as his assistance, Ukrainian artists have repeatedly visited the United States and presented their works there.
A guest from Poland Sigmund Krause is a pianist and composer, and his work includes popular operas on stage in France, Poland and Germany. He is the author of numerous symphonic and chamber pearls, the organizer of the festivals, which restored the activities of the Polish contemporary music community and founded the Community of Witold Lutosławski. Krause was teaching in Lodz and Warsaw, giving lectures and master classes in the most famous universities of the world, including Yale University.
The next Polish guest is Krzysztof Meier, a student of Krzysztof Penderecki and Witold Lutosławski, composer, teacher and pianist. Among his works is the space opera for the work of Stanislav Lem, 9 symphonies, 13 string quartets and a variety of concerts. Also from under the pen of Krzysztof Meera the biography of Dmitry Shostakovich, which is considered to be the best published today, came out.
These three composers embody the diversity of the twentieth century. However, they combine deep links with the musical tradition of their country – along with the use of new trends, motives and ideas. Artistic meetings "Yuriy Lanіuk and friends" will gather in Lvov the iconic artists of our day.
